A message for to Liz Truss

A message for to Liz Truss

Join us in sending a message to Liz Truss, the UK's new Prime Minister, to ask her for a fairer and more humane approach to refugee rights.

Recent UK Governments have been increasingly hostile to people seeking safety. The recent Nationality and Borders Bill makes it a crime just to arrive here however you possibly could to seek asylum. This is wrong.

But it's not too late for the UK Government to change course.

Please join us by signing our message to Liz Truss, asking her to rethink how the UK treats refugees.

Ask Liz Truss to show a kinder approach to refugees

Dear Liz Truss,

We live in an increasingly unstable world. Unfortunately, more people across the world are experiencing displacement and being forced to flee their homes.

Recent UK Governments have created an ever more hostile environment for people seeking safety here.

But it’s not too late to change course.

We know that the people of Scotland don’t want to see policies like these. The majority of people in Scotland want to welcome refugees.

We’re calling on you, the UK’s new Prime Minister, to:

  • Scrap cruel new rules that make it a crime to arrive in the UK to seek protection via a so called ‘irregular route’
  • Scrap the horrific Rwanda policy
  • Increase the amount of money that people in the asylum system have to live on

Yours sincerely,

Scottish Refugee Council
